PREVENTION OF OXIDATION OF MOLYBDENUM: The Need for Surface Protection
Abstract
Protective coatings are normally regarded as useful adjuncts to the materials to which they are applied, but, in some instances they are absolutely essential for the proper performance of the alloy which they cover. One example is the protection of molybdenum and its alloys. The object here is to review the main features of this important engineering problem and to indicate, briefly, along what lines workable solutions are being sought.
