Abstract
In the second part of his prospective view of the 1980s in retailing, David Walters examines the questions of supply and sourcing, location policy, and consumer legislation. In what is undoubtedly going to be a difficult decade, the one certainty is that competition is going to be intense. As one retailer said to the writer: “Competition accelerates the competitive process; some companies do better faster and some do worse faster.”
