Centralised buying — How it can work for you
Abstract
Any retailer who decides to use the techniques of centralised buying needs a sophisticated control structure. In an organisation of any size a computer installation is a necessity for the overall control of the system. Before the computer can operate efficiently it is important to have an up‐to‐date picture of the stock situation in outlets. Obtaining this information quickly and in the correct format is often a major problem companies need to overcome. In this article we see how Monoprix, the giant French retailer, used the technology at its disposal for centralised buying and the gathering of stock data.
