A better way of controlling wage costs
Abstract
The recent large increases in retail wage rates has meant that many companies are now looking afresh at their staffing policies. One company in particular John Menzies Ltd, decided to concentrate on staff effectiveness as the key to correct staffing levels and lower payroll costs. An exercise has recently been carried out in 80 of their larger retail stores aimed at assisting management to improve the deployment and use of their staff. The company was assisted with this project by consultants, Drew McConkey & Associates.
