KAUFHOF: A GERMAN STORE GROUP
Abstract
Kaufhof is the second largest retail group in the German Federal Republic. Like several German groups, it consists both of department stores and variety chain stores; in addition it is in business as a tour operator. It makes a significant impact on the German distributive scene. In delivering the Fourth Fraser Lecture on Retailing in London recently, Herr Nagel presented a fascinating portrait of the operating principles and merchandising policy of the group.
