MINIMAL BIBLIOGRAPHIC CHECKING OF INTERLIBRARY LOAN REQUESTS
Abstract
Bibliographic checking of interlibrary loan requests is a common and time‐consuming activity. The Lending Division does some bibliographic work on over 8,000 requests every week, and in addition requesting libraries carry out checks of varying degrees of thoroughness before submitting their requests. So far, there has been little evidence to show whether this activity is necessary and actually results in an increase in the number of requests which are satisfied.
