Abstract
Each industry requires a multitude of specialists to activate business. The textile industry imports in yarn and fabrics approximately £256 million each year and exports in excess of £397 million. An important percentage of these goods are utilised in the manufacture of garments. Clothing exports in 1971 were approximately £129·4 million. The raw materials used in the manufacture of yarns and fabrics come either from local fibre producers or from imports of cotton, wool, jute and man‐made fibres.
