Abstract
FOR ALL THEIR RENOWNED ZEAL I doubt whether many research workers in modern times have equalled the courage and tenacity, the single‐minded purposefulness of Avicene, the noted Persian scholar, who braved all manner of dangers and defied the guardian spirits of the Red Mountain so that he might have access to the material he required for his studies.
