Abstract
In considering the subject for my paper I decided to choose that of food contamination for two main reasons : firstly, because of the multifarious duties assigned to the sanitary inspector that of food inspection and the investigation of infectious diseases coupled with food poisoning, is the most important ; secondly, having had considerable experience in the investigation of infectious diseases associated with food contamination, I was convinced that in relating my experiences and observations, I could introduce this very important subject in an interesting manner and create a very helpful and interesting discussion. As it may be generally inferred that by the term “ food contamination ” I mean to include food adulteration, I wish to point out that except for a brief reference to adulteration I propose to confine this paper to the question of food‐borne infections, in relation to incidence, causes, forms of contamination, and preventive measures.
