Abstract
Corrosion, the destructive attack upon metals and alloys (and other materials) by their environment, is a common and widespread phenomenon. Although corrosion in domestic life may be restricted to seizure of nuts and bolts or unsightly rust stains, its occurrence in industry, and especially the chemical industry, may have serious economic effects.
