Positioning Managers for the Future — The Role of the Government
Abstract
The role of the Government in management education and development is defined under four headings: Government as leader, as catalyst, as deliverer, and as regulator of standards. The influence particularly of the Manpower Services Commission on both content and techniques is discussed, and the importance of training being focused on organisational as well as individual needs. Qualifications will in future be derived from a wider range of courses and work experience: standards will need to be established, with Government but also employers taking a formal role in the monitoring system.
