Effective practical information systems
Abstract
In any organisation different groups of people have different information needs. The ‘power’ effect of information lies at the root of some people's needs; some believe that by restricting information they can retain control; others believe that by acquiring information they can gain control. Both of these views are related to the psychological belief in protection — but against what? In these days of rapid change, economic uncertainty and inflation is there any wonder that people seek to get into the know.
