The European Institute for Printed Circuits has appointed Jo Warnier as its executive director.

Jo (40) is a marketing and communications professional with a number of years' experience in event management. His former company Exponential in Maastricht, The Netherlands was part of the EIPC management team which has successfully organised the European Printed Circuit Board Convention in the past year.

His background is not only in the exhibition and conference industry, but working for a chemical company in The Netherlands, he was also active in the market for high heat temperature resistant polymers with applications in the automotive, electrical and electronics industry.

Jo's activities will direct EIPC's initiatives in addressing the need for a coherent and unified European trade body for the electronic packaging and interconnection industry capable of representing the industry to Europe's official bodies and to sister associations around the world.

EIPC, as administrative office for the European Federation of Interconnection and Packaging (EFIP), will also act as representative for this European federation under the umbrella of the World Electronics Circuit Council (WECC). Therefore, Jo will serve as the European staff representative to this global Council. His task will be to ensure that Europe's voice is heard along with those of our sister associations in the Americas and Asia. The WECC provides a valuable opportunity for companies from all over the world to address issues of common and urgent importance, ranging from standards development to tariffs and trade.

Jo's experience in exhibition and conference management will be a valuable asset as the Institute moves towards the next major event on the European show calendar, EPC2002. Europe also has the honour of hosting the premier worldwide technology conference, ECWC9, and the two will run concurrently in October 2002 in Cologne, Germany.
