The Livingston-based factory of Polyclad Technologies has received the prestigious "Environmental Achievement" award from Motorola.
Polyclad Technologies was chosen as the award recipient due its efforts in recycling cardboard and wood, changing its purchasing on environmental grounds and development of its environmental management system.
The award ceremony was held at the Council Chambers in Linlithgow, West Lothian, Scotland. Gordon Tindle, regional manager for Polyclad Technologies UK, Bill Vallely, factory manager, and Iain McIvor, production supervisor, proudly accepted the award on behalf of the company. "We are extremely pleased to receive this award which recognizes the efforts of Bill Vallely and his team at Livingston in continuing to deliver high-quality products to the electronic marketplace while minimizing the impact on the environment", commented Gordon Tindle.
Now in its fourth year, the Award is co-sponsored by Motorola and West Lothian Council and is coordinated by the Business Environmental Partnership. The Award was developed to raise awareness of the business advantages of good environmental management; to acknowledge the significant cost savings that can be made through waste minimisation; and to commend examples of good practice currently demonstrated.
Bill McCartney, Director of Health, Safety and Environment for Europe, Middle East and Africa at Motorola commented: "Cookson Electronics is an excellent example of an enterprise that has successfully implemented environmentally-friendly ways of working".
