AT&S remains on a steady growth path, according to new record figures for both turnover and net profit. In addition, AT&S Chairman Willi Dörflinger announced that the Fehring location in Styria (Austria) will see immediate large-scale expansion.

According to Dörflinger, AT&S will invest roughly 18 mil. Euro in the massive expansion of the Fehring location. A new production facility will offer approximately 1,500 m² of floor space, accommodating 80-100 additional employees before the end of the year.

Currently, AT&S Fehring has a workforce of 520 employees. Once the expansion is complete in the autumn, the plant is expected to manufacture 170,000 HDI-microvia circuits every week.

The project in China is also on track. The main negotiations with the Chinese authorities have been successfully completed and work on the new AT&S facility in the Shanghai area will commence before summer. Dörflinger estimates investment costs at approximately 145 mil. Euro. Production is to start gradually in the spring of 2002. In the course of that year, about 100 chinese employees will undergo training at the AT&S headquarter in Leoben-Hinterberg and will be instructed in the specific HDI-microvia technology.
