No fees after all

Keywords: British Library, Charging, Fees

Although projecting an £800 shortfall for the next fiscal year, the board of the British Library decided September 18 to reverse its decision to charge researchers an annual fee of £300 to use the British Library. A campaign to fight the fees, complete with picketers in front of the $843 million facility, was successful, but now the library board is faced with decisions about where they can make cuts. The library will refer to the user survey it conducted this past summer in evaluating services for possible reduction.
