Article Type: Equipment and software From: Aircraft Engineering and Aerospace Technology: An International Journal, Volume 80, Issue 5
MSI, a provider of flight training equipment recently announced the purchase by TFC of Essen Germany for an Ascent Flight Trainer configured for a multi-engine piston glass cockpit environment, namely the Piper Seminole featuring Avidyne Glass avionics. TFC will be looking to obtain certification for the device under JAR-STD 3A FNPT II/IR. With the introduction of this technology, TFC will be able to train its students more extensively to increase their proficiency and flying skills without spending additional time on an aircraft.
The Ascent Flight Trainer can easily be converted from the Multi-Engine Piper Seminole to a Single-Engine Piston aircraft, Piper Archer featuring Avidyne FlightMax providing an ease of reconfiguration enabling TFC to buy one trainer and yet instruct students in two different environments. To allow VFR training in an utmost realistic FOV, TFC’s unit features a high-quality wide-panoramic projected visual system of 150° horizontal FOV, level D FFS compliant Image Generator, a user-friendly Instructor Operating System and the latest cockpit design featuring true Avidyne electronic instrument displays.
