Meggitt MAGIC now flying on 80-plus Piper Meridians

Keywords: Megitt Avionics Inc, Aircraft

Meggitt Avionics, Inc. together with Pratt & Whitney Canada, is a major program partner to new Piper Aircraft on the Meridian. In addition to supporting over 80 delivered PT6- powered aircraft, it has supplied over 100 shipsets to the Vero Beach, Florida manufacturer to meet a bolstered orderbook of 140-plus new aircraft. New Piper Aircraft ramped up production and delivery during 2001 to meet increased demand.

Each new Meridian aircraft flies with independent left and right seat Electronic Flight Instrument Systems (EFIS), a central Engine Instrument Display System (EIDS), a System 550 three axis Autopilot, a capacitance type fuel quantity gauging system, an engine fire detection system, and engine sensors - all provided by Meggitt Avionics, Inc. The solid state displays and Air Data Attitude and Heading Reference System (ADAHRS) have been extremely reliable since service entry.
