Hydraulics system tubes and CryoFit shape memory alloy fittings for the front fuselage hydraulics and wing tip cooling systems for the Eurofighter Typhoon are being supplied to the European partners and their subcontractors by TW Metals Ltd of Southampton (Plate 7).
The value of the contract is not disclosed but a total of nine different sizes of cold drawn, metric, seamless, titanium alloy tubes, manufactured by TW Metals sister company, Fine Tubes Ltd of Plymouth are being produced for a minimum of 700 aircraft. TW Metals will supply from stock, maintained at their Southampton factory, guaranteeing "life of project" support for the Eurofighter programme. The contract award fulfils a key criterion of selecting qualified producers within the partner nations.

Typhoon
The seamless titanium alloy SAL 2.5V tubes are being supplied in an outside diameter range from 6mm to 28mm and in 0.5mm to 1.5mm wall thickness to specification AECMA EN3120.
CryoFit couplings are manufactured from Tinel, a nickel titanium alloy with shape memory characteristics. They are manufactured by Aerofit Products Inc. of California and distributed exclusively and world-wide through TW Metals Ltd.
