Howmet receives 'Eagle of Excellence' award
Keywords Howmet, Awards
Howmet Corporation reports that it has earned the Pratt & Whitney "Eagle of Excellence" award for its contribution to the F-119 engine program.
The award, which is given annually to the supplier who demonstrates the best overall performance in cost, delivery and quality, was presented jointly by Thomas Farmer, Pratt & Whitney's program manager for the F-119, and Alfred Mulvey, vice president of Pratt & Whitney Worldwide Procurement. The F-119 engines will power the F-22 jet fighter over the life of the program.
The "Eagle of Excellence" award specifically recognized Howmet's efforts during the airfoil-development phase. "Howmet's accelerated development process helped keep the F-119 castings on schedule", says James Stanley, senior vice president of US operations. The award was accepted at the F-22/F-119 Executive Supplier Conference, attended by 140 individuals representing major program suppliers, prime contractors and US government personnel. The Dover Casting and Whitehall Casting operations, which are located in Dover, NJ, and Whitehall, MI, respectively, were the Howmet facilities directly involved in the F-119 engine program.
