Cranfield University to adopt KBO standard in training aerospace engineers
Concentra Corporation (Nasdaq: CTRA) announced that Cranfield University, Britain's leading college of aerospace technology, is to include training in the knowledge based organisation (KBO) technology used Boeing, Airbus and BAe. ICAD from Concentra Corporation, the world's first KBO technology, allows organisations to capture and deploy human knowledge within the system, for the automation of complex design and engineering processes. Cranfield has ordered three ICAD licences for the College of Aeronautics to include as part of theirMSc course.
Speaking at Cranfield, Professor John P. Fielding, Head, Air Vehicle Technology Group, said:
"It is essential that Cranfield keeps pace with the latest technology in order to produce graduates capable of taking up the challenges of the next millennium. To that end, we have included training in Concentra's ICAD in our MSc course to augment our CAD, aerodynamics and finite element analysis tools. Our PhD students will use ICAD as a research tool to produce novel aerospace design concepts. We believe that ICAD allows aerospace engineers to create optimised designs, while freeing them to focus on design innovation. We are looking forward with anticipation to the results of this investment."
Concentra's ICAD, believed to be the world's first KBO tool, is leading the revolution for companies wishing to reap the gains of knowledge integration. It combines the expert knowledge base of designers and engineers with world-wide safety legislation, design codes and best practice in manufacturing and marketing. As all this expert knowledge is at the engineers' fingertips, it is like focusing the concentrated skills of an organisation on each concept.
Garreth Evans, senior vice president International, Concentra, commented:
"ICAD has been proven in the design ofworld-class products such as one of the most successful new airplanes ever, the Boeing 777, and the enormously well-received Jaguar XK8. We are delighted that leading universities such as Cranfield are recognising the importance of including our KBO technology in the training of future aerospace engineers."
