Rohm and Haas introduces new technology for coatings market

Keywords: Coatings, Coatings technology, Resins

Rohm and Haas Company, Philadelphia, has developed new waterborne technology geared to the high- performance coatings market. This new technology, trademarked under the name “Avanse” is Rohm and Haas's latest innovation that offers an advanced line of waterborne acrylics, delivering the next generation of performance. Avanse resins offer considerable improvements in pigment distribution, allowing for significant new levels of coating performance, especially in gloss, corrosion control and hiding.

Avanse MV-100 high-solids, acrylic binder allows the paint manufacturer broad formulating latitude; it can be used in both primer and topcoat lines. Colin Gouveia, Marketing Director for Functional Polymers, said, “This binder moves the industry towards a systems approach to formulating both low-VOC paints and high-performance metal coatings”.

In addition, Avanse MV-100 meets the needs of changing VOC regulations while not compromising corrosion resistance or gloss retention. Avanse MV-100 is the first waterborne technology that is a system approach for 100g/L VOC formulations.
