Note from the publisher

Editorial team changes

As of the start of this volume, we say a fond farewell to Mr Terry Savage, who has stepped down as Editor of the journal. Terry has been actively involved in the editorial team of Anti-Corrosion Methods and Materials for over 20 years, and has been of great help in ACMM’s transition from a trade magazine to the scholarly journal it is today. Our thanks go to Terry for all his hard work on the journal, and we wish him good luck for the future. Terry will continue to edit another Emerald journal – Aircraft Engineering and Aerospace Technology (www.emeraldinsight.com/aeat.htm) and we look forward to working with him on this.

Dr William Cox, who has been the Technical Advisory Editor and Chairman of the Editorial Board of ACMM for the past 2 years, has accepted the position of Editor. Dr Cox is the Director of Corrosion Management Limited, an Engineering Consultancy based in Manchester, UK. Dr Cox began his working life as a metallurgist in the steel industry. Having obtained his PhD in Corrosion and “Total Technology” from UMIST, he formed a group of corrosion instrumentation specialists, which was launched as Capcis March Limited, a UMIST Venture Company, in 1989. He left the university environment in 1995 to launch Corrosion Management Ltd and has consulting and project activities predominantly in Europe, the Far East and North America.

Dr Cox is a Member of Council of the UK Institute of Corrosion and was President of the Institute from 1996 to 1998. He is an Honorary Fellow of the Institute and has been a Professional Member since 1980. He has been a Member of NACE since 1981, is a serving Member of the NACE International Relations Strategy Operations Committee, and is Chairman of the joint ICorr/NACE Corrosion Engineering Division. Dr Cox is also a Member of Council of the UK Institute of Materials.

We look forward to working with Dr Cox in continuing to improve both the quality and content of ACMM in years to come.

Content in 2003 and beyond

We are constantly striving to make Anti-Corrosion Methods and Materials the independent voice on materials and techniques employed in corrosion prevention and control. In 2003 we will continue to offer both article and non-article content to the reader, providing a comprehensive overview and global perspective on the corrosion industry. In addition to more research articles, we are aiming to provide more structured non-article content this year, including:

  • A comprehensive new products and developments section,

  • Viewpoints and

  • Company and association profiles.

We welcome feedback on any aspect of the journal – please contact the Managing Editor, Vicky Williams(E-mail: vwilliams@emeraldinsight.com) in the first instance.
