Contract for subsea pipeline cathodic protection
Keywords Corrintec, Cathodic protection, Pipelines
Corrintec Ltd informs us that it has won a 2½ year contract for subsea pipeline cathodic protection surveys that commenced recently in the Gulf of Mexico.
The Winchester based company is using its CP PRO inspection package to monitor the condition of subsea pipelines and ascertain whether there is a need for maintenance.
The contract in the Gulf of Campeche involves surveying 850kms of subsea pipelines between a number of offshore platforms and beach approaches operated by PEMEX. It is being carried out in conjunction with Oceanografica, the Mexican main surveying contractor.
As the 850kms of pipeline have to be surveyed twice during the course of each year, the work will continue around the clock using teams of engineers working a four-monthly rota.
The data will be gathered using the remotely operated vehicle (ROV) method that provides highly accurate information on potentials, current output and field gradients to provide a comprehensive picture of the status of the pipeline's cathodic protection system.
