Zinc passivate combines resistance with brightness retention

Keywords Chemetall, Electroplating, Zinc

Now available in the UK is Finition SF, a yellow irridescent passivate for zinc electroplate. It was developed by Chemetall Plating Technologies, Europe's third largest supplier of electrochemical processes. Finition SF reportedly brings together in one process the essential active components that will ensure corrosion resistance as well as the preservation of the brightness of zinc deposits. The adhesion of the resultant passivate film is said to be excellent following cyanide or non-cyanide alkali zincplating.

Operation of the Finition SF process is said to be simple. Immersion time in the working solution - using mains water - is 20-45 seconds (optimum 30 seconds) at 15-30°C (optimum 25°C).
