Motorway kerb-pavement joint sealed

Keywords Denso

Resurfacing and rewater-proofing of the 400m bridge deck and associated approach road of the M55/M6 link road at Junction 32 of the M6 is now nearing completion. The work has been carried out by contractors Balfour Beatty for Lancashire County Council and the Highways Agency.

Balfour Beatty has chosen Winn & Coales' Denso Joint Seal Mastic, which is applied cold, in order to prevent ingress of water in the kerb-pavement joint on the bridge deck and thereby minimise corrosion.

This is in addition to the use of Winn & Coales' Densoband as the joint seal between road surface sections and the kerb throughout the total project. Densoband is a polymer modified bitumen strip. It is approved by the Department of Transport for use in asphalt and asphalt to concrete interface.
