The Management Control Association (www.managementcontrolassociation.ac.uk) is organizing the Sixth International Management Control Systems Research Conference, to be held at Edinburgh Business School, the country campus of the Heriot-Watt University, Scotland.

The organizers seek papers on all aspects of management control theory and practice. We are particularly interested in fresh approaches to any aspects of control including interdisciplinary studies, the results of empirical research and case studies. The following themes are indicative but not exhaustive:

  • Individual approaches to control.

  • Performance measurement and management.

  • Control and risk management.

  • Control of global enterprises.

  • Methodological and epistemological contributions.

  • Inter-organization control.

  • The environment.

  • Strategy implementation.

  • Policy and control.

  • Change and control.

  • Corporate governance and control.

  • Critical perspectives on control systems design and operation.

To enable a friendly atmosphere and encourage interaction, attendance is limited to around 100 people. A doctoral colloquium is also offered on 11th-12th July, immediately preceding the conference. Doctoral candidates in management control and related areas are invited to participate. A number of subsidised places will be available for doctoral students for both the colloquium and the conference.
