IKO Nippon Thompson have launched a new product concept which turns the slide rail into a structural member capable of spanning considerable distances as a cantilever or in the more conventional "bridge" format with an unsupported span between secured ends.
The cross-section of the new rail (see Plate 9) is a three-sided channel that offers much higher rigidity against point loads and moment than a traditional rail section and will prove particularly attractive to engineers and machine builders, especially those with unusual applications to deal with.

The U-shaped cross-section rail of the LWU Series is provided with gothic arch raceways along the inside surface of the track rail which accept the captured steel balls mounted in the sides of the slide unit. Together, these features facilitate the moving action.
Track rails are available in four widths ranging from 40mm to 86mm. As with any IKO Nippon Thompson product, the width of the rails, the number of slides, preload, accuracy class etc., can all be specified to meet the optimum application requirements.
