Miniature air knives and air cannons for precision drying

Keywords: Drying, Cleaning

Secomak has recently launched a new range of miniature air knives and air cannons ideal for precision drying and cleaning applications within industry (see Plate 6).

The units, which work on the same principle as Secomak's well established range of larger air knives and air cannons, can be either hand-held or fitted to a conveyor line. A high velocity stream of compressed air, supplied by a compact Secomak blower, strips away all water, debris and dirt from surfaces, leaving them clean and dry.

The decision to use an air knife or air cannon depends on the application: air knives are ideal for stripping away liquids such as water and oil, physically atomising the liquid and leaving no trace on the surface - applications include removing cutting oil used in the manufacture of threaded metal rods. Air cannons are more suitable for blowing out swarf and dust from inaccessible areas in metal or wood cutting machinery.
