New ultra-thin slide cylinder from Festo
New ultra-thin slide cylinder from Festo
Keywords: Cylinders, Power drive units
Festo has introduced another key component in its miniature cylinder range. The new SLG Slide unit is an exceptionally flat compact rodless drive with a parallel-aligned precision guide designed to deliver big performance with small size (see Plate 5).
To permit mounting in narrow and confined spaces, the SLG offers direct mounting with the single profile allowing air connections at one or both ends. The smallest model is just 15mm thick with a maximum stroke length of between 100mm and 500mm. To further save space, the unit incorporates a shock absorber, integrated proximity switch and delivers infinite adjustment along the entire stroke length.

SLG Slide Unit from Festo delivers big performance with very small size
The SLG unit is targeted at restricted space installations and applications requiring a small precision drive with guide, or flat multi-axis assemblies. It is ideal for small parts handling applications in the precision tool and electronics industries. Attachments, including other miniature drives, can be fixed to either side of the slide.
Through holes are positioned at regular intervals along the cylinder profile to facilitate easy direct mounting. Coarse and fine stop mechanisms operate along the full stroke length to provide flexible but precise end position adjustment and help to improve load characteristics. For maximum life, reliability and maintenance-free operation, all SLG models feature stainless steel roller bearings and rail.
The new range comprises three models offering piston diameters of 8mm, 12mm and 18mm linked to maximum stroke lengths of 500mm, 700mm and 900mm respectively. The smallest unit of each SLG model delivers a maximum stroke length of 100mm.
