Technology made simple with "Fieldbus Jargon Buster" - free from ABB Automation

ABB Automation is getting rid of the mystique that can surround Fieldbus technology, by offering all readers a free copy of its pioneering Fieldbus Jargon Buster.

Fieldbus Jargon Buster uses simple language to explain almost 100 of the words and phrases commonly used by those "in the know" about Fieldbus. The "smart" 20-page document can be used by any reader with Microsoft Word 97 or later. All major pieces of Fieldbus jargon - from "Application Layer" to "Virtual Field Device" - are listed alphabetically, with regular use of Bookmarks and Hyperlinks to ease navigation to related terms.

As ABB Automation's Bob Kingman explains, there is a bewildering array of jargon in everyday use:

The Jargon Buster is designed for anyone who wants or needs to know more about the technology. There is too much "techno-speak" bandied around by users, journalists and suppliers - who all ought to know better. It does not help anybody to cloak such an important subject in mystery.

ABB Automation accepts the need for technical terms, but also recognises that jargon can be daunting to the uninitiated and, all too often, can be used incorrectly. The Fieldbus Jargon Buster is an invaluable reference work, both for readers taking their first Fieldbus steps and for those wanting to refresh their knowledge.

Any reader can acquire their free copy of ABB Automation's new Fieldbus Jargon Buster by e-mailing: jargonbuster@armitage-comms.co.uk with their name, company and address.
