New industrial duty position switches with one body unit and a choice of nine different types of snap-on actuator heads are offered by MTE Limited, Leigh-on-Sea (see Plate 8).

The switches are used to transform mechanical positions and movements into electrical signals for monitoring and controlling machine tools, presses, materials handling systems, cranes, elevators, car washes, and automatic gates, to name but a few of their many applications.

The heads include roller-lever, roller-plunger and dome-plunger actuators, which snap-on without the use of tools. The innovative design and generous space around the terminations make for quick and easy installation. The actuator heads may be turned through 90° stops and are site adjustable for left-hand, right-hand or two-way operation allowing the switches to be adjusted to almost any actuating or switching mode. They can be used in safety applications and low voltage circuits. The positive opening contacts are rated up to 6A lth, 230 Vac.

The switches are fully insulated, sealed to IP67 and meet EN50047 and EN50041 standards. They have CE, UL and CSA approval.
