Bradford Robotic Telescope
Keyword: Robotics
The Bradford Robotic Telescope is the first of its kind in the world. It is 46 cm in length and totally autonomous, being located high on the moors in West Yorkshire, UK. The telescope decides when the conditions are good enough to make observations of the sky by itself and thus eliminates the need for an astronomer to be present.
Anyone on the Internet can register and ask the telescope to look at anything in the northern night sky, with observations being automatically prioritised and scheduled. These are completed by the telescope as time allows. Weather information and reports are obtained and updated on this site automatically every day. The telescope and this system are both prototypes.
This site also contains an introduction and overview, information on the use of the telescope, weather and system reports, example images, weather station technical data and the Stars and Galaxies - CD-ROM multimedia experience.
