Editor’s note
Article Type: Editor’s note From: International Journal of Operations & Production Management, Volume 35, Issue 6.
As Editor of Chief for IJOPM I am delighted to announce that the Journal is now rated as 4 by the latest rankings of journals from ABS. This is a great achievement and it has been achieved by a first-class editorial team – Dr Alex Hill and Dr Des Doran with Dr Pamela Danese who deals with Special Issues. It has also been due to the contributions from the Editorial Advisory Board for IJOPM. Most importantly, it is due to the continued high-quality papers that make their way through to publication. We will continue to do our best for the Operations Management community.
IJOPM is really about providing insights into what is now a very complex world where, for example in manufacturing, firms will have designs made in Taiwan, products are built in China; and Amazon and others take care of logistics. It is a very different world from five and ten years ago. We have no interest in publishing mathematical “solutions” to in-house problems involving a number of products across a range of facilities. Rather, we want to provide top class, cutting-edge research that deals with the complexities and opportunities of dealing in a very complex and competitive world – one where operations management really is strategic and provides enormous value-added contributions to companies.
So, thanks for all of the hard work – we will continue to improve and provide a great service to academics and practitioners.
