The purpose of the this paper is to provide readers with a succinct summary of the issue’s content.

Design/methodology/approach

Each individual article is reviewed, with common themes identified.

Findings

The paper enables readers to scan content and select articles of most interest or relevance to their needs.

Practical implications

The review sections enable readers to identify articles of special interest.

Originality/value

–IJHG is the only Emerald publication containing a review section of this kind. It has been a feature of the journal since its early inception as the British Journal of Clinical Governance (BJCG) and has developed over the years to reflect the current needs of the journal.
