Learning-management system is a vision of the future
Article Type: Notes and news From: Industrial and Commercial Training, Volume 46, Issue 3
The worlds largest private optical group is introducing a new learning-management system covering 28,000 employees across more than 1,650 optical stores in 10 countries from the UK and the Netherlands to Australia and New Zealand.
The system will enable Specsavers to deliver round-the-clock blended learning and achieve greater control and visibility for its training.
The company will use the Kallidus Software as a Service (SaaS) system to deliver all its learning, from induction training to clinical and professional training programs.
Sam Reavill, the Specsavers manager of learning systems, clinical and laboratory training, explained: "We will be able to share training content, ideas and courses across the world and begin to deliver blended learning for the first time to every retail operation. This will help us to speed up learning and reduce costs.
"The new solution will also provide greater consistency and visibility of training records across the world. This is of particular importance for ensuring compliance as well as for supporting employees on career-development opportunities abroad."
The new system has gone live in The Netherlands and four Nordic countries and is currently being piloted in Australia and New Zealand. Implementation is under way in the UK where feedback to date has been positive.
Once the system is live in all ten countries Specsavers plans to introduce it to a further 2,000 support staff globally.
