Opinion paper: Access to documents by the independent researcher

Abstract

Researchers who are not attached to any institution face serious problems of access; they are often not close to a research library, and have to pay for access for documents obtained from other libraries, and even more for access to most research material on the Web. No easy solution is in sight.
