Developing World‐Class Suppliers
Abstract
Asserts that, to reduce their supplier bases, many companies are forming a preferred supplier list. Suggests how, by working together to improve the customer/supplier process, both sides can achieve real benefits. Looks at the customer/supplier relationship and what happens when suppliers are unable to meet companies′ needs. Describes the move from the typical method of supplier relationship to a supplier development environment which encourages participation and action. Outlines the steps towards this change. Discusses both tangible and intangible benefits. Concludes that here is a proven method of problem elimination and application of these principles will provide the proven results which provide the benefits.
