Abstract
Outlines some of the problems with manufacturing operations in the US and suggests potential solutions. Discusses methods of improving the product, improving procedures and processes. Concludes that management commitment to the replacement of outdated programmes is essential, as is worker involvement if the implementation of new programmes is to work.
