The EEC Organic Food Proposal

Abstract

Last December the EEC Commission issued a proposal for an organic food regulation. This was based on the simplistic concept that organic foods are prepared without artificial fertilisers and pesticides. Following the ECOSOC Opinion and input from national governments this is being transformed into something more realistic. The project is now formally stalled until the EP has managed to decide its Opinion.
