The high profile information security risk events in recent years have heightened the awareness of the importance of enterprise risk management in organizations. For instance, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has emphasized the potential threats of information security incidents pose on market participants and companies. Research studies have also shown that the announcement of security breaches had a negative impact on the market value of the publicly traded firms and on customers’ trust of the company.
The implementation of a sound enterprise risk management requires a multi-discipline and comprehensive approach ranging from technical, organizational and financial perspectives. Each perspective contributes to this complex and growing problem through the understanding of the regulatory requirements, the technological complexities and the organizational design associated with the development and implementation of an appropriate enterprise risk management. Therefore, in this special issue, we invite papers to enhance our understanding of enterprise risk management from theoretical or empirical perspectives. Empirical case studies or theoretical papers are all welcomed by the editors.
