“Dream the ‘Accounting Dreams’...”

Article Type: Literature and insights From: Accounting, Auditing & Accountability Journal, Volume 28, Issue 1

Another case, another life,

Another accounting student gone past our eyes […]

How many already, I ask

Too many, they sigh […]

Another case, another life,

Another accounting student gone past our eyes […]

Why shorten their lives?

The pressure is too high […]

For the “Accounting dreams”,

Young professionals with lucrative salaries,

High status respected by societies,

Working-class parents have realized their dreams […]

For the “Accounting dreams”

Is this the only route to success?

What about the freedom of choice?

Moving up the social ladder, parents stress

Is the only ultimatum.

Malaysian society is sick,

With children running away,

With suicide cases on the rise,

The results of high pressure and high expectations,

Higher social classes, while you go up and up.

Dear parents please stop and think,

Is this worth the sacrifice?

Sacrifice your children, for a dream?
