Would you kindly reject me?
Article Type: Literature and insights From: Accounting, Auditing & Accountability Journal, Volume 29, Issue 1.
We are an expertly trained team of professional sceptics
Highly-skilled, motivated, diverse and eclectic
But there's an emotional awareness we occasionally lack
And on certain occasions, we default to attack.
We are privileged to be trusted to review another's work
It's likely been slaved over till it drove them berserk
And sometimes it might not be the best thing you've seen
But remember, it wasn't produced by some unfeeling machine
Imagine it was written by someone you love
You wouldn't reach out your hand just to give them a shove
You'd offer them guidance, luck, help and support
And if you felt your blood rise you'd stop yourself short
We all know that work sometimes falls short of the mark
But we're not deadly predators, hunting for kill like a shark
I'm not blaming reviewers, that's poor attribution
Everyone knows the importance of strong "contribution".
So this isn't a poem asking you to accept all you see
Rather a request, we're a team, so "would you kindly reject me?"
