Partnering Through Networks: Can Scotland Crack it?
Abstract
Unlike the Westminster Parliament, the Scottish Parliament has shown little interest in marketoriented policies like foundation trusts, payment by results and practice‐based commissioning; rather, the emphasis has been on collectivism and partnership working. This article examines the growing interest in Scotland in ‘networks’, especially the idea of ‘managed care networks’ in respect of services for older people. It looks at different interpretations of the concept, the determinants of network effectiveness, and how networks might be operationalised and evaluated.
