Abstract

The development and use of computer systems and technology has moved on in the grocery sector from just buying packages or building operational systems. Integration is crucial, and must be more than just between systems. It is crucial that systems charges be integrated with business changes, objectives, procedures and targets. Recommends good practice for achieving a nourishing systems strategy: direct and prioritize systems, redefine cross‐department roles and responsibilities to make the best use of systems; learn from other grocers, retail peers and other industry leaders; ensure that systems are developed to achieve specific benefits, then target and monitor the benefits.
