Abstract
Examines the published research literature regarding the application of occupational epidemiology in Asia and the pacific rim countries, as an assessment tool for the monitoring of workplace health hazards and diseases. Discusses firstly the statistics for industrial dermatitis in Singapore, the incidents for which are attributed to metal products, machinery, oils and greases, secondly the incidents of byssinosis in the cotton and textile industry attributed to fibre dusts, thirdly problems associated with the use of pesticides in agriculture and forestry, and finally occupational cancers.
