Two thriving sectors are responsible for the majority of automation installation—carbide inserts and the electronics industry, with robots also being employed in a number of kibbutzes industries including lens manufacturing and furniture production. Discusses the products of Eshed Robotec, the Israeli specialist in education robotics. A joint venture with Yaskawa of Japan has resulted in a low‐cost industrial robot for lightweight application and Eshed is diversifying into robots for high school. It has developed a low‐cost teaching robot for 11–15 year olds which includes a robot, controller and a teaching package. The main market is expected to be the USA.
